Top 10 metal albums of 2011.

Well the end of the year is close so here’s my list for the top 10 metal albums of the year 2011.I will not comment each of them but rather say that the passed year was a “Prog-metal-rock” oriented. We’ve all witnessed how the mighty Opeth have dropped the death metal growls and turned their style into mixature between 70′s prog and their known style. Well done! Another example is the album “Road Salt two” (and “Road Salt one” from 2010.) by Pain of Salvation.
But the most surprising album came out in the late November by the german band Dark Suns. Their album “Orange” surpassed all my expectations, the album simply yells “welcome to 70′s” but with obvious presence of a Jazz influence. The year 2011 was also the year of mr.Townsend who have released the last two albums from his four album series (Ki, Addicted, Deconstruction and Ghost). So to conclude this intorduction I can say that this was a very prog year!

Make something cool every day…

Yea right! Maybe “…something cool every week” or even better “…something cool every month”. I have sooo many ideas that are waiting in my ToDo list in my brain but it seems that I just don’t have enough time.
Time is my arch enemy lately and by “lately” I mean the last couple of years…Maybe I should make some illustration about that…time as the devourer of all things like Goya’s famous painting of “Saturn eating his son” Well who knows…if I only had time…
Ok, now about this piece below…I often read quotes from famous and well known people, and less known as well, so I had this illustration for some time and wanted to do something more with it. One day I was reading some quotes from Friedrich Nietzsche and idea was born. Here it is:

Green man

Lungo mare

I’m walking my dog every other morning at 05.30 h and we are going in a little wood by the sea. When the alarm rings, I’d rather stay in bed but as soon as we are surrounded with all that green I’m feeling so much better, especially in summer days when the sun wakes up and is still fresh. Once I take my camera (my dad’s old Kiew) and take a few photos ’cause I just had to capture that moment.
Now, the connection with the title of the post: I often listen to some music on my iPhone when we are walking and many times I put the song “Green man” of Type O Negative from their “October Rust” album. I really love their music and I’ve been a fan from their early albums. The October Rust album is probably the album that I have listen the most of them all. It’s not their typical album (if one can say so) ’cause it has so many slow and “simple” songs. It’s just beautiful album. Please take a minute and listen to the song…

Some lyrics from the song

“Spring won’t come, the need of strife,
To struggle to be freed from hard ground.
The evening mists that creep and crawl,
Will drench me in dew and so drown.
I’m the green man. The green man.
SOL in prime sweet summertime,
Cast shadows of doubt on my face.
A midday sun, its caustic hues,
Refracting within the still lake.
I’m the green man. The green man…”
